The Department of Social Studies Teaching started offering education in the social sciences in 1998 as part of the Department of Primary Education at Marmara University. The first graduates of the department were awarded their diplomas in the 2001-2002 Academic Year. The department aims to train social sciences teachers for the second level of primary education (6th – 8th grades). The department has an academic staff of 3 Professors and 3 Associate Professors.
